the weather has been... weird... this year. the summer didn't really feel like summer, and we've had heat waves in the winter.... bizarre! so it wasn't too surprising when i looked up to the sky today and say some of the oddest clouds i'd ever seen.
you know how you learn about the different types of clouds in science class in high school? well, i saw all those cloud types next to each other in the sky today. weird, but kinda beautiful.

and the painting begins.... we're not changing much as far as paint colors go. we're only painting the kitchen. the pain in the arse, however, is that we're also redoing all the kitchen cabinets!
we haven't gotten to the cabinets yet, so today we just did the first coat of paint on the walls.

ahhhhh.... a night out with friends :) i met some lovely girls for drinks and food at The Station. sadly, i couldn't make it a late night because i have a big weekend waiting for me at the new house, but it sure was nice to get a mental break for several hours!

this is another preview pic from my Thanksgiving.... (sorry, but it's about to get a bit crazier with the house remodeling. i'll do my best to keep up with my dailies!)
this is my friend's parents' new dog. she's tiny, but seems to think she's a pretty big dog. this stick was laying on the ground and became her best friend, even though it was almost as long as she is! i thought she was going to tip over as she ran down the street with the stick in her mouth. hahaha.

i picked up the keys to my mom's new house today!! it doesn't seem real yet because it feels like it's been a loooooooong road to get here. i couldn't help but take a quick picture or two of the back yard before heading home for the night.

late night on November 16, 2010 at home.

this is my idea list notebook... i don't know that i'd be able to survive without this notebook. it's the perfect size for fitting in my purse. it's big enough that i can write a lot on one page, but not so big that i feel the need to fold it. the pages are worn. it serves as my reminder of everything - from what groceries i need to buy, to what emails i want to send out, to photo and product ideas.
the only thing missing from this notebook? color! i think i'm going to start writing with markers more often :-)

things have been hectic lately. very hectic. so i decided to take myself on a date. i went to see a movie and LOVED the alone time! on the way back i needed to stop at the storage facility to grab some things, and the overgrown weeds on the empty field across the street from the storage facility were a beautiful complement to the late-day skies.

With my mom's closing only a few days away, we needed to properly celebrate! We decided to check out the Argentinean restaurant Puerto La Boca, in Little Italy. We went during lunch because their dinner menu is a bit pricey.

it was delicious! honestly, the best beef I've had in YEARS. probably the best since my last trip to Argentina :)
If you're a die-hard carnivore who appreciates a well cooked piece of meat - GO! and make sure you pile on the chimichurri.

My neighborhood has loads of hotels in it... so it was only a matter of time before some friends invited me to happy hour in a hotel bar. Imagine my surprise when I loved it! cheap pool tables, decent happy hour specials, barely any people for the first few hours, and then GREAT people-watching during the free salsa lessons.
I haven't been back there in a while.... I think I'll have to make it a point to get back to my regular bar schedule.
