so a few posts back i mentioned that my mom and i went to a swap meet... this coffee pot was one of my purchases from that day! it's a fun orange color, has a great traditional form, and it as basic as it gets. i love it! it's a great start to a vintage kitchen collection :-)

today was another day of house hunting with my mom. this meant driving all over north San Diego county. of course, a girl's gotta eat, so we stopped at the Oceanside harbor for some fish & chips. this lighthouse is actually a little shop (at ground level), but i still love it! can't help but take a picture every time i go to the harbor.

day two being home sick, so i decided to take some more pictures around the house. here's the other set of potholders that my mom got at the swap meet a couple of weeks ago (see yesterday's post for a bright yellow set!). i think the day i have a new kitchen to outfit, i'll get what i can from flea markets and second-hand stores... vintage pieces just make me want to bust out a baking sheet!

a couple of weeks ago i went to a huge local swap meet with my mom. we both came out with some great finds, among them was a set of vintage hand-crotched pot holders! this yellow set was awesome. it just makes me smile every time i see it :-)

so my dear friend/artist assistant/PR agent went to happy hour with me today (see yesterday's post), and she told me she found this amazing brick wall that has great texture. i was so proud to hear her talk so excitedly about a brick wall! it was awesome :-) so she wanted to show me this amazing wall, and i must say she was totally right. it was a kick-ass brick wall.

ok, so I missed a day but am gonna try to make up for it.... this is actually a preview of my day on the 15th of September. happy hour!! ocean views.... candles.... and plastic ketchup bottles. :) ok, it wasn't a romantic dinner for two. it was just a nice happy hour with a good friend, but i had a great night nonetheless!

today was just one of those days full of noticing details that are often overlooked... i saw this corner of shrubs that had been trimmed to allow for a light near the walking path. i just liked something about the low light's 'mood'.

there aren't many trees in San Diego that have leaves which change color and fall off.... in fact, i think these may be the only trees in all of San Diego that do. :-) and they just so happen to be in my condo complex! i just couldn't resist taking a couple of pictures when i walked past them today and saw the bright colors.

on my way to a friend's party, we decided to stop and watch the sun set. by the time we got to a spot to pull over, though, the sun was pretty much gone! but the sky looked beautiful (as usual!).
next time, i think i'll go for  a picture like this WITHOUT the car peeking into the shot ;-)

when I was little, I used this cologne all the time. it's one of those soft and flowery baby colognes, and I LOVED it! so when I recently found this bottle (with some cologne still in it) in my room during my mom's move, I was happy to take it home with me. I'm not sure how much I'll use it now, but just looking at it reminds me of my childhood.

when i left work it was bright and sunny... 5 minutes later, as i got close to the beach, it was completely gray. that marine layer was really stubborn today, but i have to admit it looks kinda cool sometimes. amazingly, there were STILL people at the beach, cool weather and all!

it was so stuffy in the office that even my mug was sweating today!! hahahaha. ok, cheesy joke. it's out of my system. promise :)
when i saw my mug sweating, i felt like a little kid because all i could think of was how much i wanted to draw on it! alas, i resisted.... but i'm not so sure that i'll be able to resist next time :-)

it's september!!!! hard to believe, but there are only 4 months left in 2010.

my mom likes to sew, and makes some really cute stuff! among them are some placemats and napkin sets, like this one. it's not often that a placemat gets used in my house, so i took a picture of course!

I attended a cocktail event for Make-a-Wish tonight. my friends and i got to draw cards for a few of the sick kids that are getting wishes granted.
this is supposed to be a frog. no, it's not my artwork, but it was so NOT a frog that i just had to take a picture!  don't worry, as the label on the bottom says, it's not one of the cards the kids will get (it would give them nightmares!). i will say, though, that the third (and final) draft of this frog was a major improvement and very child-appropriate. while i can't take credit for this masterpiece, i couldn't resist capturing it :)

my mom bought some beautiful flowers the other day for my apartment, and they've started opening up. i couldn't resist taking a few pictures of them. it's amazing how fresh flowers can change a room!
