i have a busy and emotional week ahead of me. i'll be going to my hometown to help pack up the house that i grew up in so that my mom can move out to the west coast.
such a big trip definitely calls for a few drinks before hitting the airport, so i met with a few friends tonight and we expertly went through several bottles of wine and a few pizzas.
and of course, nothing tops off a fun night with friends like a low key re-cap on a friend's front stoop.

i had an appointment this afternoon, so i left work early. when i got home, there was still lots of sunshine outside and my plants were all soaking it up! i loved how the light was hitting these flowers, and especially these little flower buds. if only i could get home early every day...

i bought this charm during a trip a couple of years ago, only to return home and notice that my phone did not have a little hook for it.
i recently got a new phone, and soon after getting it i realized that it's got a hook for a charm!
so now my phone can be girly and wear the jewelry it was meant to wear.

today was a weird day. i can't put my finger on it, but i was in a funk. i think i'm just so used to getting some quality 'me' time to veg at home and recharge that when i don't get that i get in a funk.
anyway, for whatever reason, there was a funk.
so i decided that i wanted sushi. i tried to shake the craving. i tried to eat something different. i tried to stop myself from going out and buying it. but alas, i wanted sushi.

and it tasted gooooood.

there's a story behind this trunk. i was in india about 6 years ago and was visiting the hill town of Musoorie for a couple of days. during my stay, my group drove through the 'town', where we stopped to look at a few shops. i was de-ter-mined to get something antique. suddenly, i see this tiny wooden trunk. it's totally beat up. there's no lock for the latch. and the decorative metal is all bent up. and yet, i loved it.
so now, this little trunk sits on my night stand. and not only did i get this little trunk, but during that trip i also bought several antique coins that have made a home for themselves inside this little trunk.

now wasn't that a good story time? :-)

sorry folks, but i swear i'll be back on track tomorrow!! this is another shot from Big Bear to take the place of a new pic today.
this is what gutting of a rattlesnake looks like. you can thank my friend, Ray, for this one. i loved it and was disgusted by it all at the same time. another big recommendation if you ever get the chance to see it!

so i got back home after a weekend of camping and suddenly had a list of things to take care of within a couple of days. this meant that today flew by without a chance to snap a picture of anything!
this month is promising to be a busy one, but i will try to keep up with my dailies!

so here's a bonus shot from Big Bear that shows a late night view of the lake with the 'city' lights glowing at the foot of the mountain.

i don't normally steer far from traditional breakfast foods.... bacon, eggs, toast...
but this morning we decided to cook some spinach and feta sausages over the campfire. they tasted AWESOME. of course, everything tastes better over an open flame, but these were better than i ever expected. i definitely recommend them! (campfire optional)

we arrived at Big Bear. the tent, coolers and chairs were set up. the fire was started. the food was about to go on the grill, and i realized that i was about to miss the sunset! i run across the street to the lake and caught the low sun's light behind the trees. it was one of those moments where no matter how many photos you take, they just don't do it justice.

tomorrow i head up to Big Bear. this is my pre-trip ritual: grab everything i could possibly want to take, lay it all on my bed, then do major editing until i get to what i REALLY need to take.

one thing i would want to change about my apartment is the patio wall. i would love to have a patio where i can sit with my coffee/tea and watch the traffic and people go by. unfortunately i have a 5' wall enclosing my patio, so the only time i see life go by is when i'm standing up. when i do stand up, this is what i see :-)

I went to see a movie today. It wasn't a big blockbuster movie at a major movie theater. It was a foreign film in a small theater down the street from my home.
I walked into the theater and there were two other people there. I loved that! Granted, by the time the movie started there were a whopping 10 people or so in the theater, but I'll take that over a packed theater any day!

we had GREAT weather today, and i was lucky enough to be spending my afternoon enjoying it with friends. while we had some snacks, i painted my toenails and enjoyed a little shade from a red umbrella.
