Torta de Mil Hojas... masa casera en capas con dulce de leche entre cada capa. 500g de manteca, 2 tarros de dulce de leche, y 2 dias de preparacion.... pero QUE RICO!

***

"Mil Hojas" cake (translates as "1,000 Sheets), all homemade. It takes 1lb of butter, 2 jars of dulce de leche (caramel), and 2 days to prepare... but DAMN it's good!

not a bad start to my day :-)

5:30pm on January 2, 2010. stopped on the edge of Lake Cuyamaca, San Diego, CA.
i stopped to take what i thought was a cool looking view of some restaurant lights by the lake with a backdrop of the mountain silhouette in the sunset. well all those came out blurry thanks to me having to rely on my pocket camera and a wobbly sign to lean on, BUT i got this picture at the last second and really liked it!

This is a photo of a small fraction of the people that camped out on the street to nab a good spot for the Rose Parade.
There were grills, coolers, lawn chairs, inflatable mattresses, tv's w/ video games, and picnic tables all set up along the sidewalks. it was bizarre but oddly intriguing.
